Non-surgical treatment for Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis can be treated with a minimally invasive procedure called Tenex. The procedure is used to resolve Achilles tendinitis and other tendinitis’ that have been previously unresponsive to other treatment modalities. The Tenex procedure utilizes a small needle with an ultrasonic tip. Under ultrasound guidance, the ultrasonic tip reduces the thickening of the Achilles tendon. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in an ambulatory surgical center. Typically, one suture is used to close the small incision, greatly reducing the healing time compared to open surgical correction.
